Israel Photography by Yoav Cohen

+ Behind the Image

Tragic yet beautiful, and certainly not barren, the Dead Sea is still a dying wonder. It's landscape lies at the mercy of human intervention in its ecosystem, and the presevation efforts that aim to sustain it.

"This image was captured with the first light in autumn 2021, as the sun rose above the sea next to the hotel district. The long salt pier that extends from the shore seems to light up with the sun's rays as we sat on its uneven surface, mesmorized by the view and the sounds of the waves as they crashed around us. It was a short visit to another world a the lowest point on earth, before returning to shore and to reality."
